They bring the community together, allow you to meet the locals and give you a taste of what they're passionate about and where their talents lie. If you are visiting Perth on a holiday, why not stop by some of the much-loved markets on offer? Here's a guide to some of the city's must-see markets.

Twilight Hawkers Market

The Twilight Hawkers Market is one of Perth's favourite night time market events. While it's currently closed for the winter it's not long before it will be back in October running through to April, lighting up your Friday nights with the tastiest street food you could dream of. 
You can look forward to international dishes such as Moroccan tagine, Mexican burritos, Japanese sushi, Turkish gozlemes and much, much more to whet your appetite.  
While you're perusing the mouthwatering stalls, you'll also be treated to host of globally-inspired live entertainment with live music and other great performances.

Perth City Farm Markets

For all things natural and organic, visit the Perth City Farm markets located at 1 City Farm Place, East Perth. It's open every Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m., with a cafe that's open seven days a week.  
At these markets, organic, biodynamic, ethical and sustainable growers and producers come together to mingle with locals and visitors. Amongst the gorgeous green courtyard setting you can find plenty of delectable and healthy produce, such as fruit and vegetables, meat, eggs, olive oil, honey and body products. There are even seeds, household items, books, clothing and gifts for sale. You can also look forward to live music and entertainment as you go about the stalls. 
Stop by for a chat with passionate sellers who will be able to tell you everything you need to know about how it's been grown. There's plenty of space for kids to roam, so head to the cafe and grab a coffee and relax while the kids frolic in the play area. You never know what you might learn about sustainable produce!

Fremantle Markets

A 30-minute drive from Perth is the settlement of Fremantle, home to the delightful Fremantle Markets on the corner of South Terrace and Henderson Street. 
This is a market with a seriously illustrious history, having been in operation since 1897. Visit the complex open for business on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Hall area is open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Fridays, while the yard is open from 8 a.m. On Saturday and Sundays, the Yard is open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. while the Hall starts up at 9 a.m. running until closing at 6 p.m., too. 
What kind of treasures can you find at the Fremantle Markets? To begin with, loads of fresh produce. Stock up on fruit and vegetables, many of which are of organic origin. 
There are also many Indigenous arts and crafts on offer, as the Fremantle Markets operation is committed to promoting independent artists. Boomerangs, didgeridoos, artefacts and more are some of the Aboriginal items you discover. As well as this, be sure to browse paintings, hand-carved wood and all sorts of other treasures on display.
The Fremantle Markets also have a great atmosphere with fantastic buskers, musicians and performers of various descriptions keeping things lively throughout the day. Be sure to wander these markets with a coffee or cup and beer in hand and enjoy meeting a diverse bunch of people - this is a unique and artistically vibrant destination.
