Sydney CBD accommodation
A central business district like no other, the Sydney CBD is a phenomenal location with enough activities, restaurants, nightclubs and luxury Accor hotels to not only create an unforgettable holiday, but leave you gasping for second one.
What to do in the Sydney CBD
As you arrive from Sydney Airport, just 20 minutes away, you will instantly know you're in a Mecca for magnificence. Start your CBD adventure by heading north along the waterfront to Circular Quay. From the many ferry terminals available here you can go just about anywhere you could dream! Catch a ride to Manly, head up the river to Parramatta or just pop across the harbour to Taronga Zoo. When you return, wander an easy 10-minute walk further north towards arguably Sydney's most famous attraction - the Sydney Opera House.
This World Heritage listed building began its tumultuous construction period in 1957 and, after the lead architect, Jorn Utzon, had resigned and protestors had taken to the streets, was finished in 1973. Nowadays you can ascend the Man o' War Steps to venture inside this illustrious, gleaming building to take a historical tour, witness a spectacular live performance or sit down at any of its numerous bars and restaurants.
For a picturesque walk in serene greenery then stroll less than 10 minutes south to the Royal Botanic Gardens. The massive garden area consumes almost one-quarter of the Sydney CBD and is filled with fantastic flowers, wonderful walks and terrific trees. Back across the ferry terminals, on the other side of the peninsula, lies the Sydney Observatory. A charming stone building from the 1850s, this observatory offers astronomy lovers the chance to gaze through their telescope both at night and during the day, gain insights into our solar system through fascinating 3-D films or hear some of the star-gazing stories from local Aboriginal history.
Of course, these are just a small selection of what is on offer here in the Sydney CBD. You can also try the Sydney Eye Tower, Hyde Park, Darling Harbour, myriad restaurants and plenty, plenty more.
