Sunshine Coast accommodation

Australia's famous Sunshine Coast features sparkling beaches, adorable animals and, well, sunshine! Less than a two hour spectacular drive north from Brisbane Airport, the Sunshine Coast is the perfect place for an outdoor holiday. The weather rarely drops below 20 degrees Celsius, even in the winter months, while summer sees highs as gorgeous as 28 degrees Celsius.

Beaches on the Sunshine Coast

Casual swimmers and beginner surfers should visit the Coast's north-facing beaches, some of the only few in Australia. Noosa Main Beach and Mooloolaba Beach are both amazing, sun-drenched locations that are sheltered from ocean winds and make great, kid-friendly destinations. Just 15 minutes from Maroochydore is the highlight of surfing in the area, Point Cartwright, which features not only fantastic breaks but also cliff top viewpoints of Mooloolaba and the rest of the coast. Surfers further north can drive less than 10 minutes out of Noosa to visit the aptly named Sunshine Beach for more great breaks, plus plenty of nearby walks for something a little different.

Sunshine Coast animals

No trip to the Sunshine Coast is complete without heading 30 minutes east to see the internationally famous Australia Zoo. Get up close and personal with all your favourite animals and see everything from cute otters to impressive rhinos at this must-visit 'home of the crocodile hunter'. In Mooloolaba, the ultimate underwater marine experience is Underwater World. There's more than just viewing animals here, as you can also snorkel with the rays, dive with the sharks and even take part in feeding the seals.

Other activities on the Coast

Think you're a better racer than your kids? Challenge them at Big Kart Track and race on over one kilometre of face-paced fun. Eight minutes east is the next big adventure, Aussie World. With 30 different rides to choose from, plus great eateries and gift shops, you'll be hard put to run out of fun at the Sunshine Coast's award-winning fun park. Located in the 'Ginger Town' of Yandina is The Ginger Factory. Learn the secrets of growing ginger to turn into delicious sweets, the life of keeping honey bees with their beekeepers or just browse through their wide range of fantastic products in The Ginger Shop.
