Good location for Alfred Hospital

Customer review rating 3.5/5

B Couples - Confirmed reviews ALL

We stayed for three nights. We changed rooms after the first night due to elevator noise all night in the first room. The bar fridge was not working well and our free arrival treats ended up in a pool of water on the plate in the fridge so we couldn't eat them. My husband had signed up as a member but the price was no cheaper. The spa is quite cool. The breakfast had a good selection but no pancakes or waffles. Luckily we were walking distance to the Alfred Hospital as parking was included in the deal but we didn't realize that only included one exit per day. We were also meant to get discounted mini golf tickets in our package which we never received. Overall a good stay but I don't think we would return.

Great Place to stay for our conference

We attended a conference at the hotel and decided to stay there as well. We were pleased with how clean it was and the friendliness of the staff.

So much potential let down by lack of attention to detail

Overall the place is fine - cost effective parking for Melbourne as long as you're not going in and out, menu is reasonable and well priced (except the wines!), public areas are clean and up to date. The room however was let down by an old bed, dirty windows (and we paid for a lake view room), and a cracked sink in the bathroom. I know staffing is an issue in hospitality, but our experience in the restaurant, especially in the morning, was very inconsistent and slow. Training is the problem rather than the people themselves, who were lovely but didn't seem to have much of an idea about what they were doing. Somewhat surprisingly, the highlight of our stay was steak night - great special price and the presentation plus quality of the meat was well beyond expectations. A couple of little things would have made a big difference: complimentary cold water in the room (oh, the fridge was unplugged when we arrived, full of condensate and everything in it warm), a bed consistent with expectations for a 5 star hotel, and clean windows for a room with a view. Nothing that would stop us coming back, but in comparison to Rydges at about the same price per room, the experience could easily be better.

Front Desk Unprofessional Behaviour

Our stay was excellent until an incident occurred at checkout after our conference. I requested a detailed breakdown of the charges on our bill from the front desk, a practice I follow as a well-traveled industry professional. Unfortunately, this seemed to be too much for the gentleman at the desk, who made some rude remarks under his breath. This behavior was not only unprofessional but also disappointing, as it detracted from the otherwise wonderful service. The kind and patient lady at the front desk, who spoke with a foreign accent, was left to apologize for his behavior, which was unfortunate as she had been extremely helpful throughout our stay.

Dear Ms.P. , Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. I also Sincerely thank you for taking my call and accepting my apology on behalf of my colleague. Our colleague, whom you referred to, is also quite apologetic as to how the stress of the situation was allowed to take precedent. There is no excuse, when in customer service industry, for such abrasive behavior and I personally would like to apologize again if this has caused any discomfort and dampened your otherwise pleasant stay. Please be assured this is not our usual standard and would like to welcome you again with the warmth of Accor, when your travels brings you again to Melbourne. Please do send me a note when you make your future booking so that I can personally look after your booking. Kind regards Manoj Ramisetti Executive Assistant Manager Pullman and Mercure Albert Park
