  • Good hotel
We stayed here as we had Surfing Australia Hall of Fame awards night on Saturday. The staff were very attentive. Th room 316 was very good with the bed being firm as I like it. What I did find though, it didn't have a Nespresso machine that I was hoping would be there as I am a Platinum member.
  • Ultimate location, great holiday destination
We enjoyed three nights in the hotel. We loved being able to wander in any direction to see the history of the Newcastle east end, the restaurants offered close by or even down the hill along the river front, watch the shipping transfer in and out of the river port, wander the beach areas, or take advantage of other opportunities offered by the style and location of this hotel. We had a great time here, this being our first visit to Newcastle. Coming from Wollongong there are many crossovers and similarities but the richness of the history and beautiful older buildings surrounding this area were fantastic. The gym was adequate, good space surrounding the equipment and reasonably well kept. Didn't miss the pool as summer and the beach or ocean baths are right there. The Memorial Walk and our adventures nearby made our stay memorable. We have proposed to come back to Newcastle again later or next year. We did eat at the nearby Rustica overlooking the ocean, one night. Could not beat this place for service and quality. Most impressive and within 75m of the front door. Could not fault anything about our stay, much praise to the chef and staff, having dinner there the first night and breakfast each morning of the 3 night stay. Awesome! When the city regains it's vibrancy with the opening of the light rail this will be even better.
  • What a great hotel, right on a rugged beach
Arrived Newcastle from Sarasota U.S. after 3 flights and a 3 hour train journey. Hotel is modern, clean and staffed with people who cannot do enough for you. I felt spoiled. Checked in in minutes, found my room to be bright, and easy to use. Bathroom was spotless, lots of sockets to recharge all my gear. Bar was well stocked, had a meal in restaurant, flawless delivery by chef and waiting staff. Good local red wines as well. Morning coffee is fresh made with a very welcoming Aussie smile and perfect foam with smiley face, great job. Very close to beach, went for a walk to blow the cobwebs away, reminded me of English southern town where I grew up, well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.
