  • Ask for a room NOT above the lobby!
If you are going to stay at this hotel I strongly encourage you to request a room on the opposite side of the hotel and not with the windows overlooking the lobby on the inside of the building. As frequent travelers within the Accor hotels we upgraded to their Privilege rooms. My wife and I had been travelling all day and retired to sleep at roughly 8pm. Usually this wouldn't be a problem in a Mercure however this one wasn't so quiet because quite a few of their rooms back onto their lobby (The room window is inside the building and literally overlooks the lobby and the adjoining Yaralla Sports Club). There is also a MASSIVE bang sound every time anybody comes in from the parking lot (the door on the floor below) which is quite often as smokers gather outside that location. Many times my wife and I were woken up by bangs of the door and if it wasn't that it was a rather loud speaker announcement inside the club which is heard quite clearly inside the rooms. We ended up getting to sleep by just after 10pm. I wouldn't recommend this hotel if you are a business traveler looking to get an early night or have been on the road all day as we had been and needed some good quality sleep. Find a more out of the way quiet establishment. For some this hotel would seem fitting though, being right next to (literally joined with) a club and their bistros for meals and a bar, even a little bottle shop right next to the lobby. The service was as expected from such an establishment (great checkin and checkout experience) and the rain showers in the privilege rooms were great. Also the air conditioning worked very well. However, it is quite a few minutes outside the various spread out CBD.
  • New to Gladstone
Staff were excellent, had problems with the TV but sorted over the phone with the front desk, room was very comfortable and well appointed. Had an issue with the room service meal although more of a restaurant issue than a hotel issue I think. Stay was good. Will be going back in a couple of weeks time with my wife so will try the dine-in at the restaurant.
  • Good service and comfortable Gladstone hotel
We frequently visit Gladstone for business and have tried most of the ***+ hotels. The stay at Mercure was very good and so far has been the best quality and service hotel in Gladstone. Room service ,housekeeping and customer service was excellent.
