- Comfort on the Gold CoastWe stayed at the Sofitel Broadbeach for a convention and it turned out to be the ideal location. Quiet elegance, 2 blocks from the convention center and… lots of trendy restaurants nearby. AND the benefit of a view of the ocean and the Gold Coast fantastic beach! Just 4 blocks away. Lovely hotel, would stay here again. Smaller but well appointed rooms, great service, lovely breakfast area. Join the Accor Hotel program to receive discounts on internet and breakfast. Only two slightly irritating things: the closet is small and only 2 drawers in the room if you are a person who likes to unpack. Be sure to ask if there are 2 or more of you in the room. And inconsistency on the benefits of the Accor program, each of my colleagues had a different message.
- Good location and great service but desperately in need of an upgradeWe recently stayed at the Sofitel Broadbeach for one night. As accor members we were looking forward to it as this was our very first stay at a Sofitel… hotel, which we were told is the creme de la crème of the accor chain. The first thing to note is the fantastic service! Staff are friendly and helpful. And the location is amazing - close to the hustle and bustle of Broadbeach and close to lots of great eating places. Also the breakfast was nice - lots of variety, good quality produce and all prepared and presented well. For us, this was where the positives ended unfortunately. Maybe we set our expectations too high... We were given a very small room with two double beds squeezed into the room - our three year old could bridge herself across the beds showing how close they were and there was barely clearance on either side of the bed to move. The T.v. screen was small and blurry and the bathroom was a little tired with rust-looking marks in the bath. The beds were a bit soft and you could tell the springs were starting to go. The room amenities were good - mini sewing kit, slippers, robes, free bottles of water. But didn't even have a shaving mirror which I've found most hotels have nowadays. Also, our daughter left a treasured soft toy behind. I rang the very next day and while the staff attempted to be helpful, they couldn't track down the toy. This was a little disappointing as toys don't just vanish. Our fault really for not thoroughly checking the room on check out but you'd think that when housekeeping are cleaning the room, they would have found it. Overall an ok stay but not sure we would stay again unless they had a serious upgrade as I don't think it's worth the higher Sofitel price tag.
- Good HotelI recently stayed at this hotel for work and needed to be close to the convention centre. The rooms are large and spacious but it did have a funny musty… smell. The good thing is you have a balcony so you can open the glass door and let the fresh air in. I found the shower small but it had good pressure and a decent shower head. There was a bobby pin on the floor when I first arrived in the bathroom and was only picked up by staff on the 2nd last day of my 7 night stay. I was curious how long it would take before staff would see it and it gave me the impression that the cleaning is not 100%. Close to the beach and only 15minute walk to big shopping centre, Pacific Fair. Would stay again.
