Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach

- A lovely short breakOur meal in the restuarant One3 was excellent, all wait staff charming, room had a view of beach & the monorail which connects to the Casino. Check-in… & out was smooth, although there was a small waiting time to check out, which is to be expected when one checks out right on 11 am. Even the weather cleared for us despite the rather ominous forecast the day before, and we were able to enjoy time on the beach. Good shopping at the Oasis shopping area below the actual hotel, very convenient.
- Brilliant Business Conference venue - 5 star experience !!Attended a Conference today at this venue and it was the best venue and service i have experienced for a long time - and i attend a lot of conferences… - highly recommended could not speak highly of it and will be recommending it
- Not quite the Sofitel experienceWe have stayed at the Sofitel in Melbourne and were so impressed that we thought we would try other Sofitels as well. Broadbeach was a nice experience… but it wasn't a 5 star experience for us. The hotel is looking a little old & the rooms, whilst very nice, were showing age as well in the furnishings & marks on the carpet/floors. We weren't too worried by this, but then we experienced fairly poor servicing in our room through our stay - we left the hotel one morning at 8am & when we returned at 2pm our room hadn't been serviced even though we had put the 'please service our room' sign on the door. At this stage it was time for our toddler's sleep so we put the do not disturb sign out. A couple of hours later we left the hotel again & asked the concierge downstairs to have our room serviced. When we returned, the service had been performed but obviously very quickly as we had not been left fresh towels, coffee replacement pods & our turn down service was done at the same time - obviously too late in the day to bother coming back for turn down. We rang for the things we needed which were quickly delivered. All of this pretty much happened on our 2nd day as well so we weren't quite sure what the story was with this. Certainly not the standard of service from the staff that we would expect from a hotel of this rating & for the amount that we paid to stay. On another occasion, we rang the service desk to ask a question & it took nearly 10 minutes of the phone ringing out each time before someone finally answered. Very strange again for a hotel of this rating. On the very positive side, the buffet breakfast was exceptional, the chef on duty both mornings was very friendly & accommodating, the pastries were delicious & very fresh & the staff in the restaurant were very attentive & professional...so huge ticks for the breakfast team & we made sure to thank them before we left. We had a lovely stay & a very comfortable stay & the hotel is in an excellent position for everything, just a little disappointed with the service overall. We would have rated this experience as average except for the awesome breakfast!
