  • ok but starting to show its age
    i have been staying at the motel many times ovet at least 30 + years under various ownerships i keep coming back as ive have enjoyed most of my stays ive seen the place grow and change how ever it been a couple of years since my last stay the staff are friendly but need more training it is starting to show its age since the last referb it is clean bed comfortable bathroom basic TV channels limited the free wifi is terible but was told that there is a problem with i seem to recall that last time there was not good. we decided to eat in the resturant but the buffett is a bit so so so had the lamd shanks which wrre very good i asled about the wine wanting a WA wine was told my selection was but on arrival was not just basic training on the staff being educated. there are many motels in Albany and many poor ones i like to see this motel keep up price wise at $A 144 per night getting to be priced out. i will stay again but hope that the parts need to be looked at.
  • Not competitive in a modern tourism climate
    I think this hotel complex has seen better days and probably needs a total makeover. While the room was comfortable, warm and adequately furnished it was nothing special. The location at the back of the complex looking on to trees screening a busy road was pretty ordinary. I also regretted not opting for a hotel closer to the centre of the town - it was about 3km out of town. Against that the staff were friendly and obliging, not professional as is usually the case with ACCOR branded hotels. Being a fair way out of town I opted to eat in the dining room and in all fairness had a steak that was near perfect. The buffet was an additional $3 but I couldn't quite establish the purpose for this - it may have provided a salad to accompany the steak. The restaurant setting was again a bit tired and dated and in need of a modern makeover. However it was very reasonably priced which perhaps explains why there was quite a crown of local families enjoying Saturday night out.
  • Friendly, but tired
    Staying overnight in Albany and decided to try this hotel. Sent to a room at the very rear of the property - structure very, very tired; but it was clean. During the night traffic noise from trucks and other vehicles made sleep very interrupted. Early next morning (around5am) the toilet started to gurgle, and kept gurgling. So much for sleep on a very cold and stormy morning. A test flush found that system was obviously blocked. Contacted reception and after a very friendly chat we were told to attend and get a key to another room so that we could shower, etc. on checkout apologies were offered, as was a discount - and information that all units in our block were affected. May I suggest that serious attention be paid to water damage to entry door framework and surrounds. As I said, friendly service but why were we sent to a dodgy room at the rear (request for ground floor room) when the room we were offered for showers in the morning was a ground floor unit - and better appointed. Very early in the morning, so obviously had not been occupied the night before. Sorry Ibis, we will look elsewhere next time.
